"Compelling" was the word used most often in the discussion of this book - whilst we didn't all enjoy it, we all found that we wanted to keep on reading it. It gave us an insight into something that most of us only know about from news reports, and despite some shared concerns about whether Edna O'Brien was the person to be telling these stories, we ultimately agreed that she was providing a voice that might otherwise not have been given.
