Rating: 4.0 out of 10

Summary: Most of us found this relentlessly violent and dystopian early American epic very tough-going, and only two or three actually managed to finish it. Chris argued (nay, shouted) passionately about the horrors of its content, but the rest of us felt browbeaten out of a decent discussion. It was a great illustration of how hard it is to engage with a book, if you really don't care what happens to the characters. Unfortunately, not a happy reading experience, or a happy group.
